Knowing what an ingredient is only part of the story. We also want to understand where it comes from, who supplies it and whether it meets our standards. Whether we’re selecting meat, organic sweet potatoes, pumpkin or fruit, we ask questions before an ingredient becomes part of a D.O.G. product.
Better ingredients start with better information.
Look Beyond the Label
Source Verification™ means seeking meaningful information behind our ingredient claims. Depending on the ingredient, that may include Country of Origin information, ingredient specifications, Certificates of Analysis, organic certification or other supplier documentation. Requirements may vary. Our commitment doesn’t.

Our commitment to transparency continues with the finished product. We favor recognizable ingredients and simple recipes without unnecessary fillers, artificial colors, artificial preservatives or unnecessary additives. And when a recipe contains more than one ingredient, every ingredient should have a reason for being there.
Use what the product needs. Leave out what it doesn’t.
Our Promise
Source Verification™ is D.O.G.’s ingredient sourcing and transparency standard. It is not a government certification. It represents a standard we set for ourselves—to ask questions, understand our sources and seek appropriate information about the ingredients we use. Before an ingredient becomes part of a D.O.G. product, we want to answer three simple questions:
- What is it?
- Where did it come from?
- Can we stand behind it?
If we can’t become comfortable with those answers, it doesn’t belong in a D.O.G. product.
