Air-Dried vs. Traditional Dog Treats

How Your Dog’s Treats Are Made Matters

Ingredients matter. So does how they’re made. Dog treats can be baked, extruded, freeze-dried, dehydrated or air-dried. At D.O.G., we use air-drying for our Pure Meat Fillets™ and select treats because it works with our simple ingredient philosophy.

Start with better ingredients. Keep the process simple.

What Is Air-Drying?

Air-drying gradually removes moisture using controlled temperature, airflow and time. For our Pure Meat Fillets™, the idea is simple:

Real meat → air-dried → finished treat.

The process creates a convenient, shelf-stable treat while allowing the original ingredient to remain the focus.

Why D.O.G. Air-Dries

Air-drying allows us to create treats without turning simple ingredients into complicated recipes. Our Pure Meat Fillets™ begin with one clearly identified protein—such as turkey, chicken, beef heart, beef liver or pork. No fillers. No artificial preservatives. No unnecessary additives.

Just real meat carefully air-dried.

How Is Air-Drying Different?

Traditional dog treats can be made using a variety of methods and may combine proteins, grains, starches, binders or other ingredients.

Air-drying takes a different approach.

Rather than focusing on how many ingredients can go into a treat, we focus on the quality of the ingredient we start with, and the care used to transform it.

Air-Dried vs. Freeze-Dried

Air-drying and freeze-drying both remove moisture, but they use different processes. Freeze-drying removes moisture from frozen food under vacuum. Air-drying uses controlled temperature and airflow over time. Both can produce quality dog treats. D.O.G. chooses air-drying because it gives our treats the texture and simplicity we’re looking for.

Start with the Ingredient

No processing method can make up for poor ingredients. That’s why D.O.G. starts with carefully selected, human-grade ingredients and keeps the process as simple as possible. Better ingredients. Simple process. Real treats.

Nothing more. Nothing less.
